Toy drive in New Albany to benefit AIDS initiative

NEW ALBANY — The fifth annual Raq’n Around the Christmas Tree Holiday Toy Drive will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 27.

The event is again sponsored by Raqia Belly Dance/The Studio in New Albany, and the toy drive will benefit the boys and girls of the AIDS Interfaith Ministries of Kentuckiana.

The event will be held at The Grand, located at 138 E. Market St. in New Albany, and will begin with a taste of New Albany featuring local food and spirits.

Entertainment featuring world music and dance will follow from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Last year’s event drew 130 guests and 318 toys were collected.

Entrance to the event costs $10 or a donation of one new toy. For more information, call The Studio at 812-989-0821.
