Floyd Memorial Hospital receives efficiency grant

Funds will help with training, tools for operating rooms

NEW ALBANY — Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services has garnered some additional funding to bolster its operating room safety and efficiency.

According to a news release issued by the hospital, Floyd Memorial has received a $20,195 grant from Cardinal Health Foundation.

According to hospital officials, the money will be used to purchase items such as electronic boards for operating rooms, educational DVDs, books and to fund staff training hours.

The funds come via Cardinal Health Foundation’s E3 Grant Program, which has awarded more than $6.15 million to health care organizations in the U.S.

“It is wonderful to be awarded this grant by the Cardinal Health Foundation, a company, who like us, clearly has the best interest of the patient at heart,” said Connie Nichols, surgical services nurse educator for  Floyd Memorial, in the news release.

Dianne Radigan, vice president of community relations at Cardinal Health, said hopefully the grant will aid Floyd Memorial in achieving long-term improvements.

“We are encouraged by the impressive outcomes that previous grant recipients have made from the use of our E3 grants,” she said.
