NEW ALBANY —
The Booth Brothers are coming to New Albany.
The popular Gospel trio will perform at the Silver Heights Camp & Retreat Center, 501 Camp Ave., at 7 p.m. June 6. Tickets are $15 each and proceeds will help in the restoration of the center’s tabernacle, which was constructed in 1888. The concert will be at the tabernacle.
Last year the Collingsworth Family performed at Silver Heights, a concert that attracted around 700 according to Wilma Gentry, one of the organizers.
The Booth Brothers, who have appeared on numerous Gaither Homecoming tours, have collected several awards and recognitions, including trio of the year, male group of the year and song of the year.
“They are wonderful,” Gentry said.
She said it’s important to continue to hold events at Silver Heights and rehabilitate the complex. Recently, the Parnell Center was constructed on the property, which seats 200 people and used for retreats.
“It’s part of our history,” Gentry said of Silver Heights. “They have a lot of activities going on up there. They have youth camps and we’re hoping to expand the programs.
“It’s important to preserve that history. New Albany has been good to me and I want to give back.”
Those attending the concert are asked to park at Scribner Middle School, 910 Old Vincennes Road, and from there they will be transported to Silver Heights by Miller Transportation. Shuttles will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Handicap parking is available at the campground for those unable to ride the bus.
Tickets can be purchased through June 5 at Sweet Frog, 1401 Veterans Parkway, Clarksville, or Coffee Crossing, 4212 Charlestown Road, New Albany. For more information or group sales, call 812-246-0746.
