Dead Eye Daises to meet

The Dead Eye Daisies, a women’s gun club established in 2010, invites ladies of all ages to the group’s monthly meeting June 10 in Sellersburg.

The free event takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. at Silver Creek Conservation Club, 10801 Ind. 60, Sellersburg.

Bell Award nominations sought

Nominations are being sought for the 2014 WLKY Bell Awards Program. Celebrating its 37th year, the awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated the true “spirit of Louisville” through selfless volunteer service in our community.

Any unpaid volunteer living in the Metro Louisville, Southern Indiana and surrounding area can be nominated. Ten adults will be presented with the prestigious Bell Award, and two high school youths will be awarded the Youth Service Honor. Additionally, the two youth recipients will each receive a $2,000 cash scholarship award. The WLKY Bell Awards banquet will be held Oct. 9.

Nomination forms can be obtained by calling WLKY-TV, 502-893-3671, or logging onto wlky.com/community/bell-awards-nominations. The deadline for submitting an entry is June 30.

JEFFERSONVILLE

Cherry Hill readies for sale

Cherry Hill neighbors are preparing for their 14th annual neighborhood yard sale, beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 7.

Boundaries for the neighborhood are Eighth Street to Tenth Street and French Street to Main Street in Jeffersonville.

There will be a food booth at the corner of Ninth and Morningside. This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Cherry Hill Neighborhood Association. Ball Park hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, cookie, brownies, water, soft drinks, etc.. will be available for purchase.

Legion holding yard and craft sale

American Legion Auxiliary, Jeffersonville Post, will sponsor a yard/craft sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Legion Post Home, 801 Main St., Jeffersonville, part of the Cherry Hill Neighborhood Festival.

Rent a 10-by-10 space for $20. For more information, call 812-590-2224.

Learn about ‘dirt to dining’

The Charlestown and Sellersburg libraries will present the “Dirt to Dining Gardening Series” at the library in June.

Mindy McIntosh Shetter will show  how to make a living wreath from herbs — this shows how you can cultivate herbs indoors without needing a ton of garden savvy. A professional chef will be on hand to show you how to use herbs in cooking, and he will also have samples of meals prepared with herbs. Dates and times are below:

• Monday, June 9, 6-8 p.m., Charlestown Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.

• Tuesday, June 10, 6-8 p.m., Sellersburg Library, 430 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.

CLARKSVILLE

Audition for ‘Peter Pan’

Clarksville Little Theatre, 301 E. Montgomery Ave., Clarksville, will hold auditions for “Peter Pan” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 7, at the theatre, for children ages 6 to 12.

Children will be taught a portion of two different songs from the show. They will then be taught a short simple dance. Those old enough will read from the script.

Rehearsals will be held in mid- to late-June. There will be a dress rehearsal from 9 a.m. to noon, July 11, with opening night performance that evening.

Production dates are: July 11 and July 12, 7:30 p.m., and July 13, 2 p.m.

NEW ALBANY

Church holding benefit yard sale

First Church of God, 2248 Charlestown Road, New Albany, is sponsoring a yard sale to benefit Floyd County Animal Rescue League from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at the church.

Donation drop off is Friday, June 6, from noon to 7 p.m., at the church. For more information call 812-949-9099.

GEORGETOWN

Club to have yard sale

The Georgetown Optimist Club, 8260 Ind. 64, Georgetown, will host a community yard sale, 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 7, at the clubhouse.

Table rental is $10 . Concessions will be served. Optimist 4-H will have a table to benefit the new Archery Club. Contact Bev at 812 951-3142, if you want to rent or have a donation for the 4-H table. The club is also rented for birthdays, weddings, showers, anniversary’s, and other events.
