Community gardens event set
Community gardens, those small plots of land where friends and neighbors grow fruit, vegetables and flowers together, are a growing movement.
There are now 18,000 community gardens in the United States and Canada. Southern Indiana is no different. New gardens are being formed in Clark, Floyd and surrounding counties every year. Each of these gardens needs information to succeed. Purdue Extension is presenting a community garden tour and networking opportunity at Ladybug’s Landing garden April 22.
Ladybug’s Landing is a newer garden located at 1814 E. Park Place, Jeffersonville. The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 with opportunity to network with other gardeners and tour the host garden. A discussion of soil fertility and plant nutrition will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are urged to bring a lawn chair since seating is limited in the garden.
