Tornado relief deadline nears

Those with unmet needs from the March 2, 2012, storms with no other means to recover can call the March2Recovery office at 812-294-1677. The deadline to apply for assistance is June 1.

St. Paul’s looking for artists

The seventh annual Art on the Parish Green, at historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany, has openings for a few additional artists for the June 8 and 9 event.

The event features 60 juried art and fine crafts displays, food and drink, music, a YMCA Kids’ Art Place, and old-fashioned carriage rides in New Albany’s Main Street area. 

Proceeds of the event annually benefit community service projects in New Albany. Prospective artists should go to to download an application and submit photographs of their work for consideration.


Class of ’68 looking for classmates

The New Albany High School class of 1968 needs help finding classmates. One of the largest classes to graduate from New Albany High School will be marking its 45-year reunion at a party Sept. 21.

Reunion organizers are still looking for 180 classmates. If you know someone whose address has not been verified, email or call Gary Archibald at 502-429-0421.



Summer meals available for kids

Greater Clark County Schools will participate in the Summer Food Service program, Monday through Friday, May 28 through July 19. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meals will be made available to all children 18 years of age and under and to persons over 18 years who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally and physically disabled. Free meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children.

• Spring Hill Elementary School, 201 E. 15th St., Jeffersonville.

The facilities will be closed July 4 and 5 in observance of Independence Day.


Register for Miss Clark County

The Miss Clark County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is accepting applications. Any Clark County young woman ages 16 to 20 is eligible to participate. She must be an active member of at least one worthwhile organization in the community and must be sponsored by a Clark County business and/or organization.

The pageant will be held at 7 p.m. June 25 at the Clarksville Little Theater.

Farmers market opens Saturday

The Jeffersonville Farmers Market will open Saturday, May 25, in downtown Jeffersonville. 

The farmers market will feature spring crops, coffees, baked goods, ground beef and eggs. Sausage, egg and biscuit breakfast sandwiches will be available for $2 at the market, offered by Methodist Men of Wall Street UMC. 

The market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Live music this Saturday will be played by Kevin Rees. The Jeffersonville Market is located at the corner of Chestnut and Locust streets. A second market location along 10th Street will be announced soon.


Church youth holding breakfast, sale

The Wall Street United Methodist Church Youth Group will sponsor a breakfast and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 25, at the church at Chestnut and Wall streets in Jeffersonville.
