A wind advisory has been issued for Southern Indiana and Kentucky by the National Weather Service in Louisville as a cold front moves through the region today.
Sustained winds of 25 mph to 30 mph and gusts of up to 55 mph can be expected. Much colder air will arrive this evening and any lingering rain will change over to snow showers. Accumulations of up to 1 inch may be seen across Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky, the NWS says.
The weather service cautioned drivers that roadways are likely to become slick and visibility may be low.
Snow showers and flurries will continue Friday morning east of Interstate 65. Westerly winds of 15 mph to 35 mph will remain.
CITY CLOSES ICE RINK
The city of Jeffersonville said via Facebook that the downtown ice rink will be closed today because of the weather conditions. A free presentation of "Nutcracker on Ice" will be given at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22.
