Strong storms on the way into the area

A 90 percent chance of storms in the forecast for Thursday

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — A line of potentially severe thunderstorms is expected to move into the area overnight and into Thursday, according to a hazardous weather outlook alert from the National Weather Service in Louisville

A strong storm system over the Plain States is expected to move east and into the Western Ohio Valley later tonight. A line of showers and storms will precede a surface cold front.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are likely with damaging winds and large hail the primary threat overnight, especially west of Interstate 65, according to the NWS.

More storms are expected Thursday, with the highest risk of severe weather along and east of the I-65 corridor. Damaging winds, large hail and isolated squall line tornadoes are possible.

The chance of rain is 40 percent overnight, with a low of 66. The chance of rain increases to 90 percent Thursday and the high is expected to be 70.

Colder weather will follow, with highs of 54, 57 and 67 for Friday through Sunday, respectively. The lows Friday and Saturday night will be in the upper 30s.
