GEORGETOWN

Reps holding Town Hall meeting

State Reps. Ed Clere (R-New Albany), Rhonda Rhoads (R-Corydon) and Sen. Ron Grooms (R-Jeffersonville), will be hosting a town hall meeting, 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 9, at Georgetown Elementary School, 8800 High Street, Georgetown.

Reps. Clere and Rhoads and Sen. Grooms will be available to listen to constituents, discuss concerns and provide further information on the legislative session. They encourage all members of the community to come out and participate in the discussion.

 

FLOYD COUNTY

Men’s Lenten breakfast set

The Floyd County Men’s Lenten breakfasts will be held again this year. Each Saturday during the Lenten season, a church will host the breakfast. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. each Saturday. There will be a program presented after the breakfast. Offerings will be taken for the Floyd Central Christian Ministries and the Mount Saint Francis Ministries. Everyone is invited. The schedule includes:

• Feb. 16 — Chapel Hill Christian Church;

• Feb. 23 — Cornerstone Community Church;

• March 2 — Tunnel Hill Christian Church;

• March 9 — Floyds Knobs Christian Church;

• March 16 — St. Mary’s Navilleton Church;

• March 23 — Greenville Christian Church;

• March 30 — Mount Saint Francis.

 

CLARKSVILLE

 Challenger league needs players

The Clarksville Challenger team is a special needs baseball team comprised of boys and girls of all ages. This is a non-competitive league whose mission is simply to have fun playing the game of baseball.

The league is expanding for 2013 and currently seeking interested players to join. Games are played on Thursday evenings in May and June at the Clarksville Little League complex and players from throughout Southern Indiana are accepted. Registration is currently underway and will conclude on March 2.

Bariatric program taking participants

Clark Memorial’s Bariatric Program is geared to help people lose the weight and gain healthier lifestyles in 2013. The bariatric weight loss program includes: A minimally invasive gastric banding procedure; free follow-up and support from the bariatric team; free exercise evaluation; free gym membership for one month; free clothing exchange program; monthly support group; weekly weigh-in and consultation with the bariatric coordinator; and no program fees
