FLOYDS KNOBS

FCHS 40th class reunion Sept. 21

Floyd Central High School’s class of 1973 will hold its 40th class reunion from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Knights of Columbus, 809 E. Main St., New Albany.

Cost is $25 a person. Food and soft drinks provided, and a cash bar will be available. There will be door prizes and entertainment will be provided by Scott Schindler and Bryan Huff.

There will also be a get-together from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Roadhouse, 1702 Graybrook Lane, New Albany.

SMK hosting annual card party

St. Mary of the Knobs Annual Card Party will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, in the Geis Activity Center, 3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs.

A $5 admission entitles guests to register for a chance to win hundreds of door prizes, a homemade dessert and drink. Doors open at 6 p.m. to claim your seat — no reservations taken. Special quilt raffle, 50/50 and ever popular pull tabs round out the evening. Call 812-923-3011 for information

NEW ALBANY

Academy hosts 4-miler

The community is encouraged to participate in the fifth annual Warrior 4-Miler hosted by Christian Academy of Indiana, 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.

Runners and walkers alike will enjoy and be challenged by the course, which winds through the school campus and Sam Peden Community Park.

Packet pick-up and late registration will be available at Christian Academy of Indiana, 1000 Academy Drive, the day of the event, 8 to 8:45 a.m. Parking is available at the school. 

Turn onto Academy Drive off of Grant Line Road and follow the signs. Online registration, race information and results available at www.warrior4miler.com.

Barbecue dinner planned

The Men of Trinity United Methodist Church, 2796 Charlestown Road, New Albany, will hold its 11th annual pulled pork/barbecue dinner, 3 to 7 p.m., Sept. 21, at the church.

Smoked pulled pork dinners that include pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, drinks, and desserts are available for either dine-in or take-out; $5 for children 4-11 and $8 for adults. Everyone is welcome.
