Power of Pink Gala artists sought

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — To commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Power of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Gala committee is seeking artists to create original works inspired by the journey of breast cancer to be auctioned at a fundraising event on Saturday, Oct. 25.

We are searching for a variety of art forms including sculpture, glass, woodworking, painting, metal work as well as other media with the inspiration reflecting some aspect of breast cancer’s broad reach — from diagnosis to treatment, recovery and even loss — and how it affects those whose lives it touches, including its victims, survivors, caregivers and doctors.

Artists who are selected for participation in the auction will agree to a 50/50 profit share with our organization. The artist retains 50 percent of the money raised and the Power of Pink organization will donate the other 50 percent to the American Cancer Society. Artists will be selected through a jury process and will be expected to display their auction piece during a reception prior to the dinner and live auction. Artists may also display handouts and contact information during the reception.

Artists will have a biography printed in the live auction catalog.

If you are interested in submitting your work for consideration, please email photographs of at least five samples of previous work and your contact information to: bill.hanson@newsandtribune.com and linda@adfxllc.com no later than Friday, May 16.
