— Veteran’s Day honored

The Clarksville Historical Society will hold a Veteran’s Day Service, 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10, at the War Memorial behind the Clarksville Town Hall, 2000 Broadway.

The speaker  will be Terry Cummins, a U.S. Navy veteran, noted author and newspaper columnist. The Honor Guard from Sellersburg American Legion Post will participate. In case of bad weather, the service will be in the Town Hall.

SELLERSBURG

Auction benefits cancer research

Theta Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Psi Sorority will host a Holiday Auction, 7 p.m., Nov. 7, at Silver Creek Middle School, 495 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg.

All proceeds are donated to the sorority national project, cancer research. Admission is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served.

Phi Beta Psi is a national sorority whose membership is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research. Each year, nationally, the sorority donated approximately $350,000 to cancer research. Also scholarships are given annually by both the Indiana State and local chapter to qualified students who are entering the research field of medicine. Also, each chapter makes additional donations to local organizations designated yearly by the membership such as Relay for Life, Hosparus, Noah’s Ark, as well as Ronald McDonald House and the Sellersburg Food Pantry.

The auctioneer for the event will be Herman Thomas of New Albany.
