FLOYD COUNTY —
A tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 64 eastbound, at the 121 mile marker in Floyd County, closed the roadway from several hours Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at 11:41 p.m. Tuesday, and Lafayette Fire Protection District as well as New Chapel were first dispatched to the scene, according to Ryan Houchen,
PIO/firefighter with Lafayette.
The tractor-trailer had run into the rocky incline and jackknifed, puncturing both fuel tanks. Approximately 400 gallons of diesel fuel spilled, forcing authorities to close the interstate. The road was finally opened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the truck was not injured. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
