Museums team up for Ali program
From noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Carnegie Center for Art and History, Jeanie Kahnke and Kelly Watson of the Muhammad Ali Center will talk about the Generation Ali Art & Social Change YouTube Video Contest and the Center’s Day of Dignity, Day of Compassion.
Participants can bring a lunch, drinks are provided. This program is free, but registration is required by calling 812-944-7336.
The Lunch & Learn programs are sponsored by the Carnegie Center Inc. The Muhammad Ali Center’s newest initiative, Generation Ali, fosters a new generation of leaders to contribute positively to their communities and to change the world for the better. The program at the Carnegie Center, 201 E. Spring St., New Albany, will include a showing of several of the contest finalists’ videos and a conversation about the public’s response to these programs.
Aglow group to meet
An Aglow meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 19, at Covenant Community Fellowship, 727 Rolling Creek Drive, New Albany.
Fellowship is 6:30 to 7 p.m. Speaker will be Judy Lowell, president of the New Albany Aglow Lighthouse.
Church hosting tailgate dinner
DePauw Methodist Church will be holding a tailgate dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at the church, 925 Vincennes St., New Albany.
The menu will include pork roast, gravy, cheesy potatoes, peas, fruit cup, rolls, dessert and a drink. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12, and 5 and under eat free. Call 812-945-6537 for more information.
IUS announces open auditions
The Theatre Department at Indiana University Southeast announced open auditions for its March 2013 production of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 in the Robinson Theater of the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center on the IU Southeast campus, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany. Callback auditions will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28.
Those auditioning should prepare and perform one 60-second Shakespearean monologue. A sonnet by Shakespeare is acceptable, but a monologue from a play by Shakespeare is preferred. Those auditioning should also bring a resume and headshot, if available, and arrive early to complete audition information forms.
Production dates for Hamlet are March 7-10, and March 14-17.
Auditions are open to all members of the Southern Indiana/Louisville Metro community.

Make ornaments for holidays
“Cookie Cutter Ornaments: Adult Christmas Craft” will be offered at all branches of the Charlestown — Clark County Public Library.
Participants should bring one to three metal outline cookie cutters and glue decorative cards/paper to the back to create a unique Christmas ornament with a shadow-box like effect. Participants need only bring cookie cutters; all other materials will be provided. Dates and times for this hour long craft project are:
• Borden branch — 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Nov. 27 (two sessions provided for this location).
• Henryville branch — 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29
• Charlestown branch — 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3
• Sellersburg branch— 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4
• New Washington branch — 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6
Filson society hosting lecture
The Filson Historical Society will be hosting a lecture at noon Nov. 29 at the former Jeffersonville Carnegie Library, Court Avenue and Spring Street, Jeffersonville, by Keith A. Erekson.
Erekson will be discussing Lincoln’s life in Southern Indiana and more history on this part of his life. The program free and open to the public.
Brunch with Santa, bazaar upcoming
Sacred Heart School, 1842 E. Eighth St., Jeffersonville, will be hosting a brunch with St. Nick from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 in Walpole Hall.
Cost for adults is $7 each, children 3-10 are $5 each, and children 2 and under are free for all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage by Chris Cakes.
The Christmas bazaar will be open from noon to 3 p.m. and will feature local vendors and crafts people who will offer their various items for sale, including Lia Sophia jewelry, Thirty-One bags, Tastefully Simple, Moxie Children’s Clothing, and other local homemade arts and baked goods.
Santa Claus will be on hand to have his picture taken with the children and there will be Christmas crafts and other fun items will be given away as door prizes.
Thanksgiving program set on the way
A Thanksgiving program and craft event, co-sponsored by Charlestown Library, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Charlestown Senior Center, Arts and Enrichment Center, Charlestown.
The public is welcome.
