Northside in New Albany hosting bone marrow drive

NEW ALBANY — Northside Christian Church in New Albany will be hosting two days worth of bone marrow drives for Be The Match, a nonprofit organization that helps people suffering from blood cancers.

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 is eligible to sign up for the registry at Northside’s serve day, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and April 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. The church is located at 4407 Charlestown Road.

Donors are asked to bring personal identification and contact information of two family members or friends who would be able to reach them in the future.

Signing up for the bone marrow registry involves filling out a registration form and swabbing cheek cells from the mouth in four different places.

Donating bone marrow can save the lives of people with blood cancers, such as leukemia.
