NEW ALBANY — Dragon King’s Daughter will begin featuring its regular business hours today at its new location at 202 E. Elm St. in downtown New Albany.
Sushi rolls, fried rice and an extensive vegetarian menu are among the offerings at the Asian-fusion style restaurant. Dragon King’s Daughter had a soft lunch opening last week, and will now be open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The bulk of the menu items are made in the restaurant instead of being ordered from different companies, Dragon King’s Daughter Manager Chris Mercier said.
“Our kitchen is as big as our dining room, so we prep everything,” he said.
The restaurant is owned by Toki Masubuchi and Yoni Gomez. The owners provide a unique menu by combining their cultural influences, Mercier said.
“She is Japanese and he is Mexican, and so they put their hands together,” he said.
The owners stress offering food that is tasty but also healthy, Mercier continued, so fresh vegetables and ingredients are a big part of Dragon King’s Daughter.
The restaurant also has a Louisville location along Bardstown Road. Mercier said the New Albany establishment will feature regular dining as well as call-in orders that are convenient for lunchtime patrons.
Dragon King’s Daughter also features a full bar with craft beer and top-shelf liquor choices. Martinis, mojitos and special bourbon drinks are made to order at the restaurant.
Mercier said the food is served in tapas style to encourage conversation and interaction during dining. Patrons will typically receive their food orders on multiple plates with an emphasis on sharing the food with their dinner mates.
Mercier said the restaurant will be open late on the weekends to encourage activity downtown, as he said there are several quality shops in the city that deserve support from fellow businesses.
