NEW ALBANY — A New Albany man wanted for sexually molesting a 7-year-old child is in Floyd County Jail nearly four months after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Timothy Edmonson, 46, of 1002 E. Main St., was arrested in Louisville on Feb. 12 and brought from Louisville Metro Corrections to Floyd County on Thursday. Edmonson was charged in Floyd County Superior Court No. 1 with class A felony child molesting in October. The charge stems from a June 14 investigation by the New Albany Police Department.
The child’s mother reported to police that she caught Edmonson, her boyfriend at the time, in the act of molesting the child in a bedroom of their Floyd County home, according to a probable-cause affidavit. She told police she and two of her children had left the home, and her daughter was left in the care of Edmonson.
The woman had left something behind and returned to the residence.
There, she said she found Edmonson at the end of the bed where the girl was. Her shorts and underwear were pulled down on one of her legs, the affidavit states. The child told the mother Edmonson had performed oral sex on her.
According to police records, the mother then asked Edmonson what had transpired, to which he responded, “ ... it’s not what you think ... ,” adding that he was helping her change her clothes.
The mother told police she didn’t see any clothes on or around the bed.
New Albany police then interviewed Edmonson who said that he was helping the girl change her clothes at the end of the bed by holding her leg, and that he was not on the bed.
A forensic interview was performed five days later, during which the child gave account of the alleged crime. The child said she had been on her mother’s bed watching cartoons when Edmonson pointed to her private area and approached her. He then pulled her shorts and underwear down to her feet, she told the interviewer. The child then said that Edmonson touched her and tried to make the girl touch him, which the child said she didn’t do.
