NEW ALBANY — Two people were injured, one severely, following a motorcycle crash around 3:30 Friday morning in the 3500 block of Corydon Pike in New Albany.

The 2011 Honda sport motorcycle, driven by Chad Small of Lanesville, apparently hit a deer and both he and his female passenger were knocked off the bike, according to a release from Brad Scott of the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team, which was called to the scene to investigate the crash.

Small was transported to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services with non-life threatening injuries, but his female passenger, Stacy Truesdale of Underwood, suffered severe head trauma and was transported to University of Louisville hospital by helicopter. Neither Small nor Truesdale were wearing helmets. A U of L hospital receptionist said Friday afternoon that Truesdale was in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

Criminal charges are expected due to alcohol and speed being involved in the crash, according to the release.

CART investigates all fatality crashes and those involving serious bodily injury that may result in criminal charges.
