Fundraiser set for heart patient
A neighborhood stroller and bike event will be held for Chuck Robertson, a 37-year-old Jeffersonville resident who has been on a mechanical heart pump for the last 18 months while waiting for a transplant. With this device, there are still worries, many trips to see doctors and frequent stays in the hospital.
The heart fundraiser will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, leaving from Riverside Elementary School, 17 Laurel Drive, Jeffersonville. The rain date will be 5 p.m. Sunday, July 21, The 2 to 5 mile walk or bike will be in Oak Park and Riverside subdivisions.
Please bring any amount for donation.
It’s a girl’s night at the library
Charlestown Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown, will sponsor a “Girl’s Night Out” at 6 p.m. Monday, July 22, at the library.
The group will watch one of Nicholas Sparks’ popular movie adaptations. Feel free to bring a mother, a sister or friends.

Church’s VBS program on tap
Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 8211 Stacy Road, Charlestown, will sponsor a vacation bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly, July 22 through July 26, at the church.

NAHS class hosting fundraiser
The New Albany High School class of 1966 is holding a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Sam’s Food and Spirits, 3800 Charlestown Road, New Albany.
Tell your server you would like 10 percent of your food purchase to go to the class of ’66. If you are a 1966 graduate, come join in and see who you may know. Proceeds go to the class’s 50th reunion.
Brain injury group to meet
The July meeting of the Southern Indiana Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, in the Education Conference Room at Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital, 3104 Blackiston Blvd., New Albany.
