FLOYD COUNTY

NA-FC Library book sale Saturday

On Saturday, July 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library will hold their book sale in the library’s Annex Building, at the corner of Spring Street and Scribner Drive.

There will be a 50 percent discount on books in crafts, hobbies and collectibles. Regular prices are $1 for hardbacks; 50 cents for videos, DVDs and paperbacks; 25 cents for audio book cassette tapes; and 10 cents for magazines and music cassette tapes. Children’s books are available at prices of $1 or less.

Floyd County 4-H cutest baby contest

The Floyd County 4-H Fair  will host a Cutest Baby Contest at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Fairgrounds, Green Valley Road, New Albany.

Registration and check-in is at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $5 per category. A registration form available at extension.purdue.edu/floyd. Proceeds go to support the Floyd County 4-H program.

Miss Harvest Homecoming taking entries

The 47th annual Miss Harvest Homecoming and Outstanding Teen competitions will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m., Aug. 9, at Floyd Central High School. The deadline to enter either contest is July 12.

The winner of Miss Harvest Homecoming 2014 will be awarded $3,000 in scholarship funds for her college or graduate school education. Miss Harvest Homecoming’s Outstanding Teen 2014 will be awarded $800 in scholarship funds. In addition, they will receive many other prizes.

Winners also will be eligible to compete for Miss Indiana or Miss Indiana’s Outstanding Teen competition. For more information, visit missharvesthomecoming.com

SELLERSBURG

Join Otaku at Anime club

Anime continues throughout the summer at the Sellersburg Library, 430 N. Indiana Ave., Sellersburg. Join the library to watch Anime episodes, draw, play games, or just hang out with other Otaku.

Open to 13-18-year-olds. Registration is requested. To register, stop by or call any of the branches or go towww.clarkco.lib.in.us and click on programs. If 12-year-olds are interested, talk to staff about parent permission.

JEFFERSONVILLE

K of C hosting chicken dinner

The Knights of Columbus, 225 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, 6 to 8 p.m., July 11, at the K of C. Hall.

The menu of chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, potatoes and gravy, slaw, drink and dessert is $8.

A large portion of the proceeds will be given to charity.

Republican Women to meet

Clark County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting, July 8, at 7 p.m., at 440 Spring St., Jeffersonville (upstairs).

Meeting is free, however, yearly membership dues are required.

Eastside Health Fair at Jeff High

Eastside Christian Church, Centerstone and Community Action of Southern Indiana are partnering to host the third annual Health and Wellness Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 12, at Jeffersonville High School, 2315 Allison Lane,  Jeffersonville.

The mission is to provide health care screenings, information, education, and resources to individuals and families of the community. Free services will include  medical screenings as well as school and sports physicals for youth.

Transportation will be provided from Jeffersonville High to the church for anyone interested in clothes, shoes or household items.
