Historical society to meet
Clark’s Grant Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Charlestown Public Library, 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.
A Powerpoint presentation will be given by author and educator Eddie Price, who has been named “Kentucky Writer” by the Kentucky Arts Council. Price’s historical novel, “Widder’s Landing” deals with every day life from 1811-15, and shows how the War of 1812 affected Kentuckians living in the Ohio River valley. The book’s time frame also includes the great earthquake and aftershocks along the New Madrid Fault 1811-12. “Widder’s Landing” has been endorsed by the Kentucky Historical Society and the Kentucky Bicentennial Commission of the War of 1812. In February, the Kentucky Senate recognized “Widder’s Landing” as a Kentucky heritage treasure.
