Auxiliary arm of Floyd Dems elects officers

NEW ALBANY — The Floyd County Democrat Men’s Club announced new officers were elected during its annual reorganization meeting in New Albany.

Ron Toran was elected to serve as president of the auxiliary arm of the Democratic Party; Chuck Freiberger as vice president; Terry Ginkins as treasurer; and Steve Mennemeyer as secretary.

Members Terry Becker and Lemor Dowell were elected as board members while Party Chairman Adam Dickey and Immediate Past Chairman John Wilcox also will serve as members of the organization’s leadership.

“I welcome this opportunity to serve both the members of the Democrat Men’s Club and the Democratic Party,” stated Toran in a news release. “I look forward to working together with the Democratic Central Committee, the Democrat Women’s Club and Young Democrats to grow our party and foster fellowship among our members.”

Toran is a retired member of the New Albany Fire Department having served for more than 31 years. During that time, he served more than 11 years as the department’s chief. He was president of New Albany Professional Firefighters Local 410 for seven years as well as vice president and trustee.

“Ron’s record of public service and dedication to our community is an asset to the Democratic Party and the Men’s Club,” Dickey said. “I appreciate his willingness to serve and the experience he brings with him strengthens our party and its leadership.”

As an auxiliary organization of the Democratic Party, the Democrat Men’s Club works to promote the local Democratic Party and candidates for public office, foster a sense of community and social fellowship among Democrats, and provides informational programs to its members and the community.
