HARRISON COUNTY — A woman was killed and a child was seriously injured in a two vehicle accident on Ind. 135 at the intersection of Fairview Church Road in Harrison County Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police Troopers responded to the accident at 7:26 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Jeep, driven by Denise L. Meitzler, 53, Corydon, was traveling eastbound on Fairview Church Road, according to an Indiana State Police press release. When she approached the intersection of Ind. 135, she ran the stop sign, where she was then struck in the passenger’s side by a 1998 Dodge pickup truck being driven north bound by Paul F. Roberts, 21, New Salisbury.

Meitzler was driving her grandchild, 6-year-old Gabriel Redmon, at the time of the crash. All three people were taken by ambulance to Harrison County Hospital, where Meitzler was pronounced dead.

Redmon was transferred from Harrison County Hospital by air ambulance to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, with serious injuries and Roberts suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Seat belts and safety restraints were in use by all involved in the crash.
