NEW ALBANY

 Lt. Gov. to listen this week

Indiana Gov. Sue Ellspermann will sponsor a Listen and Learn Tour, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Hitachi Cable Indiana, 5300 Grant Line Rd., New Albany.

Ellspermann is conducting her Listen and Learn tour with the goal of meeting local elected officials and business and ag leaders to learn about the strengths, challenges, and priorities in each of Indiana’s 92 Counties. She will be listening, not presenting.

 

Gospel groups performing Friday

A Bicentennial Gospel Fest celebrating 200 years of gospel music will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at St. John Presbyterian Church, 1307 East Elm St., New Albany.

The event will feature The Spiritual Wonders with additional performances by St., John Chancel and Handbell Choirs.

NARFE monthly meeting

NARFE, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter No. 1777 will hold its monthly meeting 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the banquet room at Tucker’s American Favorites, New Albany. 

Food is ordered from the menu and no reservation is required. 

In celebration of the New Albany bicentennial, historian Amanda “Mandy” Dick will present a monologue on the inception of the Federal Corps of Engineers. 

All active and retired federal employees and their guests are invited and encouraged to attend. 

NARFE is an organization founded in 1921 to protect and sustain federal employees and their earned benefits. NARFE Chapter No. 1777 serves Crawford, Floyd, Harrison and Scott counties.
