Turf Party to help Greenway cause

The Ohio River Greenway Turf Party 2013 will be held at 6:30 p.m. May 2 at Cluckers in Jeffersonville.

One-day road closures in Floyd County

The Floyd County Road Department recently released a schedule of upcoming one-day road closures. They include:

• 8623 Pekin Road, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., today, April 29

• 6508 Borden Road, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 1

• 6686 Borden Road, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 6

• 8231 Borden Road, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 8

NEW ALBANY

Artists sought for Parish Green

The 7th Annual Art on the Parish Green at historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in New Albany, has openings for a few additional artists for the June 8-9 event.

The event features 60 juried art and fine crafts displays, food and drink, music, a YMCA Kids’ Art Place, and old-fashioned carriage rides through New Albany’s Main Street area.

Proceeds of the event benefit community service projects in New Albany.  Prospective artists should go to www.artontheparishgreen.org to download an application and submit photographs of their work for consideration.

 

NA-FC Library hosting pet fair

The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is hosting the eighth annual pet fair from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the library’s annex parking lot, at the corner of Scribner Drive and Spring Street.

Individuals representing several organizations will be available to provide information on pet health, rescue groups, pet adoption and other pet-related needs. There will be adoptable pets at the fair and some will be able to be adopted on the spot. There will be a pet costume parade beginning at 2:30 p.m. with prizes for the best dressed pet.
