SOUTHERN INDIANA

IU Southeast hosting job fair

Indiana University Southeast will host a job fair from noon to 2 p.m. April 4, in the Hoosier Room, which is located in the University Center at the school, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany.

Those seeking employment should dress appropriately, business casual-professional dress, and bring several copies of their résumé.

AARP sets Safe Driving Class

AARP has announced its schedule for Safe Driving Classes for 2013. All classes will be held at the Clarksville Library, 1312 Eastern Blvd., from noon to 4:30 p.m. The cost of this four-hour course is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Course dates are as follows: April 2, June 17, Aug. 6 and Oct. 29.

Classes are geared for people 50 and older and emphasize how aging affects one’s driving. Topics such as physical changes, rules of the road, driving on interstates and new car technology are covered through lecture, video and class discussion. Many auto insurance companies provide discounts for people who complete this course. For more information or to register, call 812-944-4327.

 

JEFFERSONVILLE

Board puts off decision on landfill 

The only business that was to be brought before the Jeffersonville Board of Public Works Wednesday was delayed until its next meeting.

A contract with the Clark-Floyd Landfill LLC, which would be a one-year deal, was delayed in order to make adjustments to the contract. A revised contract is expected to be presented at the board’s next meeting.

 

CLARKSVILLE

Council to hold work session 

The Clarksville Town Council will hold a work session at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the executive conference room of Clarksville Town Hall, 2000 Broadway, Clarksville. The public is welcome to attend. 

 

NEW ALBANY

Pepin Mansion open house Saturday

The newest wedding, reception and retreat venue in New Albany, the Pepin Mansion at 1003 E. Main St., will hold an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30.

The historic home, constructed in 1851, is now open for all special events. It features a ballroom, parlor, dining room and master suites.

 

Legion hosting yard sale

The New Albany American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 will host its fifth annual craft and yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the post home, 1930 McDonald Lane. This is a smoke-free and handicap-accessible facility. 

Breakfast and lunch will be available. There are more than 30 vendors presenting all types of merchandise, new and old, to include trash to treasures, homemade Easter candy, handcrafted jewelry, veteran crafted barn quilts and lots more. There will also be raffles throughout the day.

 

SELLERSBURG

Fifth Sunday song service this week

The Hamburg Church of Christ is hosting a fifth Sunday song service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the church,  8921 Newberry Road, Sellersburg.
