Event to help out children
Those wanting a fun and entertaining way to help build a better learning experience and a better future for at-risk school children are invited to attend a benefit concert featuring Steel of The Night at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 321 E. Market St., Jeffersonville.
Steel of the Night is a Caribbean steel drum band which plays feel-good island songs, a little old rock ‘n’ roll, and Jimmy Buffett and Harry Belafonte favorites. They are featured performers at the Kentucky State Fair. The concert is free and open to all.
Proceeds from the benefit concert will provide funds for Blessings in a Backpack. Those attending will be asked to make a donation in gratitude. Every donation received will be used to provide food for at-risk school aged children. The funds raised will help continue this program at Northaven Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year.
St. Paul’s Church members will host a reception following the concert to honor the performers. For more information, call 812-282-1108.
