Gov. Pence directs flags lowered for shooting victims

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS — Flags at state buildings across Indiana are being lowered to half-staff to honor victims of the Washington Navy Yard shooting.

The governor’s office says Gov. Mike Pence’s order calls for flags to remain lowered until sunset on Friday. Pence also is asking for businesses and residents across the state do to the same.

President Barack Obama has issued a similar order for federal facilities.

Authorities say a former Navy reservist killed 12 people in Monday’s shooting rampage before he was killed in a gun battle with police.
