NEW ALBANY — The Christian Academy girls’ basketball team picked up a big win on Thursday beating Crothersville 61-49 at home.

Not only was the win the Christian Academy’s fourth of the season, but it was the chance to avenge an early-season loss. On Nov. 14, the Tigers handed CAI a 15-point defeat, 69-54.

The Warriors were eager to return favor.

The first quarter was tightly contested with Christian Academy gaining a four-point lead at 11-7.

In the second quarter, both teams got things going offensively as CAI outscored the Tigers 19-12 as the Warriors went into the half with a 30-19 edge.

Behind Allison Burch, the Warriors got hot and put up 25 points in the third.

Burch had a huge night for the Warriors finishing with a game-high 30 points and nine rebounds. Emily Huffaker scored 13 points and led Christian Academy with four assists.

Abby Jewell was the Tigers high scorer with 19 points and Katrina Christian had 12.

CAI is back in action tonight as it crosses the border to take on Christian Academy of Louisville (4-9).
