HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Dickey throws no-hitter as Pioneers beat Clarksville, 13-0

Floyd golf earns 164-193 victory at Jeffersonville

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Wednesday saw a dominant pitching performance as Providence sophomore Austin Dickey led the Pioneers past hosts Clarksville, tossing a no-hit shutout in a 14-0 victory for the Clarksville City Championship.

Dickey went all five innings and held the Generals at bay in the rout. He also struck out eight batters.  

“Austin was overpowering today with his fastball,” Providence coach Scott Hornung said. “ He worked intelligently and aggressively on the mound.”

Dickey helped his own cause with two hits. Freshman Juston Betz also had two hits for the Pioneers. Jay Lorenz successfully reached base all three times he came to bat.

Providence provided Dickey with a high offensive output and a tight defense that only committed one error.

“This was a game for the city championship and it was good to see a solid effort from our team,” Hornung said.

Providence improves to 6-2 on the season and will have a quick turnaround as it hosts Henryville today.
