BABE RUTH SOFTBALL: Floyds Knobs rallies to win state

Area 8U team claims title from loser’s bracket

FLOYDS KNOBS — The Floyds Knobs Community Club 8U softball team won the 8-and-under state tournament last weekend at the Floyds Knobs Community Club fields.

Floyds Knobs posted a 6-1 record in the tournament. It defeated Richland Bean Blossom three times, Seymour twice and North Harrison once.

In the state championship contest, Floyds Knobs downed Richland Bean Blossom, 16-4.

Floyds Knobs suffered its only loss of the season to Richland Bean Blossom last Saturday, placing it in the loser’s bracket. But Floyds Knobs rallied to win the tournament, which included winning three games last Sunday.

Notable Floyds Knobs performances during the state tourney were Amelia Meunier hitting five doubles, one triple and one home run, which was a grand slam, Lydia Sprigler having four doubles and a homer, Katelyn Satoski smacking three doubles and a triple and Bella Ettel and Emily Ford hitting four doubles apiece.

For the tournament, Floyds Knobs outscored the opposition, 107-31. It now has a 14-1 record.

Floyds Knobs will play in the Ohio Valley Regionals July 16-20 in Fairfield, Ohio.
