YOUTH SOFTBALL: Floyds Knobs win first two games in World Series

All-Stars score double digits in both victories

ALACHUA, Fla. —  The Floyds Knobs 12-and-under softball All-Stars won their first two games of the Babe Ruth Softball 12U World Series on Friday.

Floyds Knobs opened the day with a 10-8 victory over Tri-County, Ala. It then defeated Ormond Beach, Fla., in its second pool contest of the day, 13-2.

Floyds Knobs’ Sarah Hensley was named the game’s most valuable player against Tri-County. She collected two hits, two RBIs and scored a run.

Hensley also made a couple of key defensive plays to help back up Floyds Knobs pitchers Abby Letson and Cassie Thomerson. Letson drove in three RBIs.

Trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Floyds Knobs took the lead for good with four runs in the frame to up 9-6.

Against Ormond Beach, Floyds Knobs scored four runs in the third, five in the fourth and four in the sixth. Thomerson and Letson each had two RBIs.

Pitching for Floyds Knobs in the victory were Letson, Amber Grooms and Brianna Hall.

Floyds Knobs has two pool games today.
