H.S. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: CAI falls at Trinity Lutheran, 66-40

Burch scores 17 in loss

SEYMOUR — A slow start doomed Christian Academy in Monday’s makeup road game at Trinity Lutheran. The Warriors fell behind 18-4 after one quarter and 30-11 at the half of a 66-40 defeat in Seymour.

Once again, Allison Burch led the Warriors with 17 points. She also had three steals. Kiersten Carruthers added seven points and five rebounds as CAI fell to 4-11 with their fourth loss in five games.

Trinity Lutheran was led by Mariah Nolan, who had a game-high 18 points. Sydney Stuckwisch added 14 and Kate Wright nine for the 10-4 Cougars. The teams combined to go 17 of 53 from the foul line.

The Warriors return to action tonight at Southwestern. The Rebels are 6-9 overall but have won three of their last six games.

    3-point field goals: Christian Academy 3 (Burch, Carruthers, Wright); Trinity Lutheran 4 (Nolan 2, Wright, Couch).

    Free throws: Christian Academy 3-16, Trinity Lutheran 14-37.

    Junior varsity: Christian Academy 37-29 (CAI now 7-7 on the season).
