In an 18-hole dual match on Friday at Covered Bridge Golf Club, the Borden boys’ golf team shot a team score of 363 to edge West Clark rival Henryville. The Hornets fired a 368.
It was a good warm-up for the Braves, who will play in the Providence Sectional at Covered Bridge on Monday, June 3.
Junior Tony Wagoner III topped the Borden scorecard with an 86. Teammate T.J. Fraley shot a 91, while Braves’ freshman Reilly Gray carded a 92. Also for Borden, freshman Kamden Hurst shot a 94 and sophomore Elijah Franklin had a 96.
Henryville freshman Luke Davidson earned medalist honors with an 83. Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets were senior Mitchell Fields with a 90, Mason Edwards with a 97 and sophomore Charlie Lefebvre with a 98. Henryville senior Cameron Furnish recorded a 105.
“Hats off to the Borden kids. They shot really well on the front side,” Hornets’ coach Robin Embry said. “As for our kids, we still need to fill a couple of holes. We need to start shooting in the high 80s to low 90s instead of the mid to high 90s.”
