FC’s Wyatt scores four times in season-opening victory

• Mustangs cruise past C’town:
Caroline Ricks had team highs with 10 kills, seven digs and five service aces to lead host New Washington past Charlestown on Tuesday, 25-13, 25-14, 25-7.

Ricks also led the Mustangs in blocks with two. Teammate Courtney Amick dished out 14 assists.

Kim Knight had three blocks for the Pirates.

“We played a good New Washington team tonight,” Charlestown coach Tammy Nuxoll said. “Ricks is a tough player and we had difficulty stopping her. We played without one of our normal middle hitters tonight, but Erika Broady worked hard to fill the position. Our serve reception was not precise in the first match, and our setter Megan Brooks had to work hard to get to several passes.”

• Warriors down Paoli: Krista Boesing smacked 17 kills and Emily Haworth chipped in 10 in Christian Academy’s 25-16, 25-12, 25-15 victory at Paoli on Tuesday.

The Warriors’ Sierra Rayzor had eight aces and five kills, while CAI setter Alex Falcone made 30 assists.

“This was a good win for us. It was truly a team effort,” Warriors’ coach Walter Pauly said. “We served aggressively and tried to keep Paoli off-balance. Hannah Staggers was rock solid passing the ball and on defense. Alex Falcone did a great job running the offense and distributing the ball. Krista Boesing had some strong kills.”
