H.S. ROUNDUP: Red Devils blank Clarksville, 18-0

Webster strikes out 20 in no-hitter for Charlestown

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The Jeffersonville baseball team scored five times in the second inning, four in the third and seven more in the fourth to beat Clarksville 18-0 in five innings on Tuesday at Clarksville Little League.

Seven different Red Devils had at least two hits and 10 had at least one RBI, as they extended their winning streak to seven games.

For Jeff, Josh Burke went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Trent Astle was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and three knocked in, and Drew Ellis extended his hitting streak to 12 games by going 2-for-4 with a double and three runs.

Also for the Red Devils, Nick Gallagher was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, Chandler Dale went 2-for-3 with a run knocked in, and Casey Gibson had two hits, scored twice and knocked two in. Teammate Damin Smith had a double and three RBIs, and Jeff’s Nolan Fertig had a pair of RBIs.

Dale picked up the win on the mound for Jeff, which improved to 10-3 with the victory.

The Devils will travel to Jennings County tonight for a preview of Monday’s Hoosier Hills Conference opener. Clarksville (4-15) visits West Washington today.

• Top ranked Highlanders improve to 19-0: Floyd Central went on the road and picked up an 11-0, five-inning win over Tell City on Tuesday.

The Class 4A No. 1 Highlanders are now 19-0 on the season.

Floyd Central starting pitcher Kyle Beach improved to 5-0 on the season with a three-hit shutout. Kyle Neafus hit a home run, and Trey Fulton and Brandon Smith each doubled for the Highlanders.

NEXT: Floyd Central (19-0) will host Seymour, Thursday.

• New Albany has no trouble with Cougars: Four New Albany batters had two hits apiece as the visiting Bulldogs rolled by North Harrison 11-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

Logan Striegel led the New Albany attack by going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs knocked in. Garrett Sherrell was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, Jack Shine went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and Tucker Marcum went 2 for 3.

New Albany pitcher Tanner Goller picked up the win. He went four innings, giving up just four hits without walking a batter.

NEXT: New Albany (12-4) at Providence, Thursday.

• Nicholson leads Musketeers by Crothersville: Kaleb Nicholson gave up just one earned run and struck out eight as visiting Eastern defeated Crothersville 9-5 on Tuesday.

Nicholson also went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI on offense. Jacob Hornung hit a two-run home run and Dustyn Miller went 3-for-4 and scored a run for the Musketeers.

On Monday, Eastern couldn’t hang on to a 5-1 lead and fell to Class 3A No. 8 Corydon Central, 9-7.

Brayton Brading went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Musketeers.

NEXT: Eastern will host Scottsburg, Thursday.

• Austin gets by Henryville: Henryville’s offense produced just one run on four hits in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of host Austin on Tuesday.

Hornets’ pitcher Tyler Pace fell to 0-1 despite giving up just single runs in the second, third and fourth inning. The Eagles only managed four hits, as well.

NEXT: Henryville (10-5) will host Borden, Thursday.
