GIRLS’ TENNIS

• Eastern tops Charlestown, 4-1: Eastern won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles and doubles to defeat Charlestown 4-1 on Thursday.

Krista Roberts and Sierra Purlee won in straight sets in singles for the Musketeers. Eastern’s No. 1 doubles team of Anne Hein and Kelsey Harrell defeated Bailey Masingo and Hayley Trinkle 6-3, 6-3, and the Musketeers’ Kristin Potter and Halie Mueller beat Jessica Renn and Suzannah Fielding 7-5, 6-2.

Charlestown’s win came at No. 3 singles with Megan Crawford earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tabitha Coats.

“Megan Crawford gained another victory today at three singles, winning in control of her match,” Pirates’ coach Chris Ryan said. “We needed to play better than we did at other spots today. The girls seemed a little flat and content to just be playing rather than competing for wins.”
