PIONEERS WIN IN FIVE

The Providence Pioneers picked up their first win of the season by crushing Oldham County, 11-1 in five innings in the Derby City Classic at Louisville Southern.

The Pioneers were led by freshman pitcher Cameron Harvey. Harvey threw a complete game, allowing one run on just three hits and struck out two Colonels while walking one.

The game was a pitcher’s duel until the Pioneers exploded for nine runs in the fourth. They closed out Oldham County with two more in the fifth to put the 10-run mercy rule in effect.
