Olivia Scarbrough and Lauren Cunliffe each kicked in two goals to lead the Silver Creek girls’ soccer team to a convincing 8-1 victory over host Charlestown on Thursday night at Dutch Reis Field.
Scarbrough put the Dragons (8-6-2) up 1-0 in the third minute of the match with an unassisted goal. Her second goal came eight minutes into the second half.
Both of Cunliffe’s scores happened in the second half. Her first goal came in the 41st minute of the match, followed by her second 15 minutes later.
Teammate Alexis Barnett recorded two assists, with her second pass occurring on Cunliffe’s second goal.
Also scoring for Silver Creek were Natalie Jones, Lora Thompson, Shelby Shultz and Ashley Stefansson.
“We passed the ball very well tonight and were able to move some girls around in different positions,” Dragons’ coach Patrick Anderson said. “The girls played hard and it was a good confidence builder as we head towards sectional next week.”
Paige Cooksey made Charlestown’s lone goal at the 73rd minute.
Thursday’s match was a “Pink Out” contest to support breast cancer awareness. Both teams wore pink uniforms and donations were collected for the Susan G. Komen foundation.
