Clark county briefs for Jan. 12, 2011

CLARK COUNTY — JEFFERSONVILLE

Anti-tolls group to meet

The Southern Indiana No to Bridge Tolls group will be hosting a meeting Tuesday at Buckhead Mountain Grill, Jeffersonville.

The meeting will kick-off with a networking session at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Despite the recent pledge to reduce the cost of the Ohio River Bridges Project by $500 million, which the no tolls groups have cited as a “huge victory,” the group will continue to pressure the Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridges Authority to reduce the cost of the project.

Paul Fetter, co-founder of the Southern Indiana No to Bridge Tolls group, said in a press release other value-engineering measures can be taken to make sure existing modes of mobility remain toll-free and Southern Indiana residents are still paying the majority if the costs if tolls remain on the Interstate 65 bridges.

For more information contact Fetter at 812-283-5555 or visit the group’s website at www.No2bridgetolls.org.
