NEW ALBANY —
Silver Creek picked up its first win of District 5 play with a five-inning, 15-5 victory over Charlestown on Wednesday.
Dominic Decker was the winning pitcher, striking out three Charlestown (0-3) batters in 2 2-3 innings. Matthew Osterhoudt added two strikeouts in the final 2 1-3 for Silver Creek. Combined Decker and Osterhoudt allowed just five Charlestown hits.
Decker and Holden Groher each went 2-for-4 with a single and a double and three runs scored. David Barrett Also scored three times for Creek, which had 13 hits.
“It was a well played game between two teams fighting to make the elimination round of the tourney,” Silver Creek manager Jason Kerber said. “We have struggled offensively and defensively in the tourney, but they finally put a complete game together. I am proud of the way our boys played. It took a while to get there, but they were all wallking a little bit taller when they left the field. The smiles on their faces is what it is all about.”

• Jeff blanks Clarksville: Jeff/GRC beat Clarksville 13-0 to complete pool play unbeaten. Baylee Clarke, Danielle Monroe and Macy Rodman all had singles in the win.
Jeff’s next game will be at the state tournament at Clarksville starting July 25.
• New Albany also headed to state: New Albany has also clinched a spot at the Clarksville state finals after a 9-0 win over Charlestown.
Five different New Albany (3-1) players had a single, including Skylar Roark, who scored three times in the victory.
• Jeff stays undefeated: Markez Jordan went 4-for-4 with three triples to help Jeff/GRC improve to 3-0 with a 22-1 win over Clarksville.

• Clarksville wins thriller: Clarksville stayed in the hunt for a bid in the semifinals with a thrilling 10-9 win over Charlestown on Wednesday.
Charlestown batted around to break a 4-4 tie in the sixth and led 9-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh before Clarksville scored five times to capture the win.
