LaDuke earns Ball State Coach of the Year award
Floyd Central baseball coach Casey LaDuke has earned the 2013 Ball State University Alumnus Baseball Coach of the Year award. Baseball coaches throughout the state who graduated from BSU voted on the honor.
LaDuke, who graduated from Ball State in 1989, led the Highlanders to a 29-3 record this past season and helped them to the top ranking in the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A poll. LaDuke also earned District Coach of the Year honors.

North Harrison receiver participating in Top Gun camp this week
North Harrison wide receiver Ethan Hamby is participating in the Football University Top Gun Camp this week in Dublin, Ohio.
Hamby was invited to the invitation-only camp based on his outstanding performance at a Football University camp in Noblesville. He will join more than 1,000 of the nation’s other top athletes at their position and train with current and former NFL players and coaches.
Top Gun is the culmination of Football University’s 40-camp nationwide tour, gathering the most elite performers from across the United States and allowing them to compete and display their abilities together on one stage. Football University has an impressive alumni list that includes some of the top college football recruits and players in the nation.

Tickets available for IUS Champions Dinner
The Indiana University Southeast athletic department is selling a limited number of tickets to the public for its first-ever Champions Dinner, which is Saturday, Aug. 24 at IU Southeast.
Individual tickets cost $50 and will be available for sale in the IU Southeast athletic office, located inside the Activities Building on campus, 4201 Grant Line Road, New Albany. Proceeds from the dinner will support IU Southeast athletic scholarships.

Battle of the Bridges tryouts on July 29
Tryouts for boys’ and girls’ players grades 9-12 for the 16th annual Battle of the Bridges will take place on Monday, July 29 at the Charlestown Civic Center, 150 Steve Hamilton Drive, Charlestown.
Girls’ tryouts will start at 6 p.m., while boys’ tryouts will begin at 7 p.m.
The Battle of the Bridges will be Saturday, Aug. 3 at Mid-America Sports Center.
