The Silver Creek High School baseball team has three players on this season’s All-Mid-Southern Conference team.
The Dragon trio included junior pitcher and third baseman Cameron Cook, sophomore outfielder Cody Razer and senior pitcher and shortstop Shae Durham.
Silver Creek head coach Joe Decker earned the MSC Coach of the Year award.
Those three players and Decker helped Silver Creek finished the season with a 24-8 overall record and a perfect 9-0 mark in winning the outright MSC championship.
The Dragons proceeded to win their fourth consecutive Class 3A sectional title before losing 16-4 in the Class 3A Jasper Regional final to Gibson Southern on June 7. Silver Creek was ranked fourth in the final Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A poll.
Charlestown and Clarksville each had two players make the squad. The Pirates’ representatives were junior pitcher and third baseman Drew Reich and junior shortstop and outfielder Ryan Jones.
Making the All-MSC team for the Generals were junior pitcher and infielder Wyatt Kissel and junior pitcher and outfielder Nick Jones.
Eastern had one player make the squad in senior Scot Ames.
The rest of the all-conference team is Austin’s Hunter Spencer and Aaron McIntosh, North Harrison’s Gage Arnold and Jacob Faith, Brownstown Central’s Zach McCory and Cole Borden, Salem’s Kody Kramer and Owen Bowers, Corydon Central's Dalton Arnold and Scottsburg’s Channing Collins.
Six area players got honorable-mention selections. They were Silver Creek’s Brayden Ware and Brahm Whittinghill, Charlestown’s Daniel Sprinkle and Tanner Wesp, Clarksville’s Justin Lind and Eastern’s Dustyn Miller.
Other honorable-mention picks were Austin’s Tanner Craig and Gavin Napier, North Harrison’s Alex Flock, Brownstown’s Drew Shoemaker and Salem’s Devin Albertson.
DECKER DISTRICT COACH OF THE YEAR
Along with being named the MSC’s top baseball coach for 2014, Decker was recently named the IHSBCA District N Coach of the Year.
Decker completed his 12th season as the Silver Creek manager in 2014. He has guided the Dragons to five sectional championships in his Silver Creek tenure.
