H.S. BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Hornets top South Central in OT

Schneider’s 25 pushes Braves past Charlestown

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The Henryville Hornets needed overtime to knock off visiting South Central 60-50 on Friday.

“It was a good overtime win,” Henryville coach Dan Carmony said. “These wins are good wins for the kids.”

In a tight contested game Henryville and South Central alternated four point leads in the first two quarters, going into the half even at 20.

Even is the perfect word for these two teams as the third and fourth quarters saw Henryville and South Central (3-11, 0-3 SAC) score the same amount of points each period. Both teams scored seven in the third and 15 in the fourth, ending regulation knotted up at 42.

In the overtime, Bailey Reister and the Hornets found away to finally pull away from the Rebels. Henryville grabbed the momentum from the start of the overtime and used it to outscore the Rebels 18-8.

Reister finished with 15 points with four made 3-point field goals. Elijah Weeks scored 13 and Cole Hariston added 12 in the Hornet victory.

The Hornets (3-10, 1-2) will travel to Crothersville to take on conference rival Tigers on Friday.

    3-point field goals: South Central 5 (Schaffer 3, Goforths 2); Henryville 10 (Reister 15, Hariston 2, Janek 2, Robertson, Weeks).

    Free throws: South Central 13-19, Henryville 22-32.

BROWNSTOWN DRILLS CHARLESTOWN, 80-35

In a Mid-Southern Conference game, the Brownstown Braves went on the road and ran over Charlestown, 80-35 on Friday.

The Braves instantly took control of the game and led 42-17 by the half.

Chaz Schneider led the Braves with a game-high 25 points. Austin Snodgrass added 18 and Zach McCory chipped in with 12.

The Pirates’ Tanner Wesp scored 11 and Jamal Long finished the night with 10.
