CLASS A SECTIONAL: Mustangs, Eagles survive at New Washington

New Washington edges South Central 41-35

(Continued)

NEW WASHINGTON — LANESVILLE 73, ROCK CREEK ACADEMY 8

The final score tells the tale in the sectional opener as Rock Creek’s season-long struggles continued in a big way, resulting in a 73-8 loss to Lanesville and an early exit in the tournament.

The Lions couldn’t generate any offense, and their defense was unable to halt the Eagles, who went up 28-0 before Rock Creek scored its first points 12 minutes into the game. The Lions had only four field goals for the night and were held scoreless in the first and fourth quarters.

Ten players scored for the Eagles (7-13), led by senior guard Mahailey Hall’s 15 points.

Freshman Catie Troncin scored six points for the young Lions, who lose no players to graduation off this season’s squad.
