JEFFERSONVILLE — Jeffersonville’s boys’ track team won their sectional for the 41st year in a row Thursday, winning seven of the 16 events for a 61 point victory over second place Madison. The Red Devils scored 172 points in all.

“There’s a lot of pressure to keep this streak going, but they came through tonight,” Jeffersonville coach Mark Felix of his 2013 squad. “It was a team effort. All of them did great.”

The top 4 finishers in each event will advance to next Tuesday’s Bloomington North Regional.

After Madison staked an early lead with a win in the 3,200 relay, DeSean Daugharty gave Jeffersonville the lead for good with a win in the 110 hurdles. Nash Rivers added to the lead with a 145-foot discus throw to take first in that event.

Although Madison’s Wayne Sherbahn took the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.20 seconds, Jeffersonville’s Isaiah Blanton and Tyrell Dowdell finished third and fourth respectively, to continue to increase the Red Devils’ lead. Dowdell won both the 200 and 400. He won the 400 in a blistering 49.45 and the 200 in 22.66.

Madison’s Jordan Partee had a long jump of 23-feet, 7 1/2 inches to beat out Chase Scott of Jeffersonville for first place by less than four inches.

“He got second in the long jump with 23 and change. That never happens. That’s the best jump of his life. That was really wonderful,” said Felix.

Jeffersonville’s 1,600 relay team of Isaiah Blanton, Raeshawn Ragland, Chase Scott, and Jordan Vejar, which also won the 400 relay, edged out Madison with a winning time of 43.74 seconds to close out the meet with a victory. Dalton Adkins won the high jump and Tymon Brown won the shot put for Jeff.

Isaak Haas won the 1,600 and the 3,200 for third-place Silver Creek. Haas, a senior, took the title in the 3,200 for the third straight year. Marciez Sewell also won the 300 hurdles for the Dragons.

Jacob Hedrick of Henryville qualified for the regional by finishing second to Haas in both races.

Sophomores Morgan Davidson and Tanner Coots of Silver Creek both qualified for regionals by finishing second and third, respectively, in the 800 meter run.

Charlestown’s Eli Daniel advanced to the regional with a four-place finish in the high jump. Adan Diaz and Ian Hughes advanced for New Washington. Diaz was third in the 300 hurdles and Hughes finished fourth in the 400.

BEDFORD NORTH LAWRENCE SECTIONAL

Eastern’s Tevin Wolf cleared 6-6 to win the Bedford North Lawrence Sectional high jump championship on Thursday. Wolf was the defending sectional champion and a state finalist a year ago in the high jump.

Wolf also finished third in the 400 and sixth in the long jump. He teamed up with Dakota Jackson, Jordan Gray and Dalton Jackson to finish second in the 1,600 relay.

Cody Estes was the only other Musketeer to advance. He finished third in the 100 meters. Khalil Jackson was one spot from advancing with a fifth in the 3,200.
