FC to host Night of the Future Stars

Floyd Central High School will host The Night of the Future Stars at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 18. The event is a prelude to the Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19 at Freedom Hall in Louisville.

The Night of the Future Stars will include Kentucky Derby Festival Classic participants competing in a slam dunk contest, 2-on-2 contests and a 3-point shootout. The players will have an autograph session immediately after the event.

Seven players who have signed with the Big Three universities in the Kentuckiana area — Indiana, Louisville and Kentucky — will participate in The Night of the Future Stars and the Derby Festival Classic. They are IU signees Devin Davis, Luke Fischer, Stanford Robinson and Troy Williams, U of L signees Anton Gill and Akoy Agau and Kentucky signee Derek Willis.

Admission to both The Night of the Future Stars and the Derby Festival Classic are $11 and $16. Derby Festival Classic tickets are on sale at all TicketMaster locations and www.ticketmaster.com. Fans also can purchase tickets by calling 800-745-3000 or the Freedom Hall box office at 502-367-5144. Derby Festival Classic tickets also can be purchased at Floyd Central on April 18.

Hussung to play in North-South All-Star Challenge

Floyd Central High School senior Drew Hussung will play in the second annual Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Basketball Challenge on Saturday, April 20 at Lebanon High School.

The 6-foot-2 guard will play for the Class 4A South Boys’ Senior All-Stars. Hussung was recently named to the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association All-District IV team. He also earned a spot on the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State first team.

Plus, New Albany girls’ basketball coach Tammy Geron will help coach the Class 4A South Girls’ Junior All-Stars during the challenge.
