ROUNDUP: Dragons open season with 46-30 win at Valley

Eastern falls to rival Senators, 48-8

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Florida transfer Bobby Haines scored three times and Brad Graham added a pair of scores as the Silver Creek football team opened the season with a 46-30 victory at Springs Valley on Friday.

It is the first season-opening win for the Dragons since they re-established their program four years ago.

Austin Hasting added a sixth touchdown for Creek.

The Dragons led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. After falling behind 8-7, Haines ran for a 60-yard touchdown.

Springs Valley then took a 20-14 advantage, but a 15-yard TD pass from Brooks Howell to Hasting gave Silver Creek the lead for good.

Haines’ third touchdown later made it 33-14 in the third quarter, and Graham gave the Dragons a 46-20 lead on a 15-yard scoring run in the fourth.

The Dragons will host Salem in next Friday’s Mid-Southern Conference opener. The Lions dropped a 29-20 decision to Paoli in their first game of the season on Friday.
