> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Behind a strong start from pitcher Kassie King, the Floyd Central Highlanders beat host Bedford North Lawrence, 5-1 on Friday.

“Kassie King kept them off-balance all night,” Highlander assistant coach Denny Jenkins said. “We knew coming in that Bedford was ranked and had a powerful team. It was a good solid team effort.”

King pitched a complete game, going all seven innings. She allowed just one earned run from the three Bedford hits. King struck out two and didn’t walk a single batter on her way to her third win of the season.

At the plate, Gabbi Jenkins led Floyd Central. She went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Regan Hadley was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Clara Shean went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
