• 2012 recap: Following three consecutive nine-win seasons, the Highlanders posted a 2-8 record in 2012. It was their first losing mark since coach Brian Glesing’s first year at Floyd Central in 2007. The Highlanders’ two wins were against Madison and Jennings County, and their season concluded with a first-round loss in Class 5A Sectional 8 to Castle, 56-12. The Highlanders’ defense had a rough year, allowing 36.5 points and 401.6 total yards per game.
• 2013 expectations: The Floyd Central defense must improve, which Glesing has emphasized during the summer. Floyd Central’s offense should improve with the return of Posey and Uhl in the backfield. Kimm took some snaps at quarterback last year, so he has some experience operating the Highlanders’ offense. Glesing says his team’s main goal is to have a winning record and be a better team by sectional time. Because of the addition of Class 6A and the reorganization of the sectionals, Floyd Central will play in a new Class 5A sectional this season, which includes Franklin, Jennings County and Whiteland.
